Hoshino Coffee Cafe at Plaza Singapura

Hoshino Coffee Cafe
#03-84 Plaza Singapura
(New extension wing of PS)

Warning: Prepare to queue during meal times :P

Although the restaurant has limited variety on its menu, the fact that there is always a queue during meal times tells us that the food is of acceptable standard.

I went there with friends to try out the food, based on the recommendation of a friend's friend. I had the famous dripped coffee and one of its signature spaghetti

The spaghetti taste good, despite the lack of sauce and its bland look. It is something like Aglio Olio.

Surprisely the Fuwa Fuwa turns out to be a disappointment. My friend who ordered this dish don't feel satisfied as half of this dish is of baked rice and the rest is just fluffy foam.

I will try out the Omu Rice with Tomato Sauce on my next visit to the cafe.

As the cafe has limited seats with long queue of patrons waiting for tables, you will be expecting waitress going to your table frequently to check on the status of your orders and whether you need anything else.

Within an hour or so of dining, we have the waitresses coming to our table for more than 5 times, excluding the occasion to serve our food.We get the hint ^_^, footing our bills after finishing our food.

But overall, the food and service is good.

Plato's Symposium: The Origin of Love

A picture really said a thousand words

A simple comic strip to show the Origin of Love. The true meaning of soul mate.

Amazing !

If the philosophy textbooks are in comic strip, I am more than willing to take up philosophical studies.

Good News for NTUC members!!

NTUC members are granted free admission to ALL galleries in National Museum of Singapore. This means free tickets to special galllery to view Princely Treasures from the House of Liechtenstein.

There are many wonderful painting and artwork in this exhibition. I spent about 2 hours for one round in the special gallery. No matter how professional one may be at photography is able to capture the mesmerizing effect these collections of painting has.

Make a trip down to view this amazing paintings at the museum before it is gone.

All the paintings are at least few hundreds years old, it does not fails to amaze me the 3D effects that some painting exhibit. It feels like you are able to feel the texture of the real things if you touch the painting.

Quote for the day

If you are called to be a street sweeper, sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.' By Martin Luther King

I came across this quote in the book I'm reading by Robin Sharm. Find it to be quite meaningful for those who thinks that their jobs are meaningless and insignificant. Ponder about this quote... nobody or no one's job is insignificant. :)

Lazy Sunday afternoon at Coffee Bean

What can be better than spending a relax afternoon with a good book and a good cup of cappuccino?

Everywhere is crowded with people and children at Causeway Point shopping centre.

Every cafe in the area is crowded with people, including the one in Woodlands regional library and Starbuck in same building.

Lastly, I managed to find a less crowded cafe in Causeway Point Shopping centre, the Coffee Bean cafe. I suppose it's because they have implemented the 'no studying' policy through the cafe.

Korean Movie - Hello Ghost

Don't be mistaken that this is a re-make of the Hong Kong comedy movie by Raymond Huang. It's a completely different movie.

It's a movie about a guy who feels life is meaningless and attempts to commit suicide. However, his suicide attempts all failed and he ended up being about to see ghosts. Knowing that the guy was about to see spirits, 4 ghosts decide to haunt this guy and persuaded him to help them to finish some unfinished business.

P/S: The unfinished businesses that these 4 ghosts have are related to this guy.

This is a very touching movie which teaches us to not take life easily. So moving that it makes me teary.

Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) - Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor and His Legacy

24 Jun 2011 - 16 Oct 2011
@ Special Exhibitions Gallery, ACM Empress Place

One of ACM newest special galleries is The Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor and His Legacy.

My family and I went to ACM on a Sunday afternoon and most of the crowd to ACM was found at the special gallery for the Terracotta Warriors. Surprising, there was groups of kindergarten kids running around. It turns out that schools have been organising school trips to the ACM for little school children.

Actually the special gallery is only a small part of the exhibitions that ACM has. It has an extensive collection on artifacts on the civilizations of China, Southeast Asia, South Asia and West Asia/ Islamic.

For those who are interested in taking photos in ACM, you will be reminded constantly by the security guards that no flash are allowed for photo-taking. This will posed some problem as the permanent galleries are quite dimly lighted.

Please visit http://www.acm.org.sg/home/home.asp for more information

For those interested in visiting ACM, please note that the following event is coming up.

The Terracotta Warriors Weekend Festival
13 Aug 2011 - 14 Aug 2011
Sat & Sun | 1 - 6pm | @ Asian Civilisations Museum, 1 Empress Place
